Explosive Welding

"Explosive welding" is the process by which two metals are bonded through the impact generated by an explosion, without the use of intermediary agents or the application of heat. The result is a high-purity, high-strength metallurgical bond.

Explosive welding is used to produce bimetallic plates and other components that combine the best properties of each material.

For example, it is possible to combine the mechanical strength of steel with the low friction coefficient of brass, or to obtain thick plates with a carbon steel core and one face clad in stainless steel.
